Winter is coming: this is the time to check out the possibilities to enrol your child in a winter camp for skiing, snowboarding, and a lot of fun!

A winter camp is a great way for children and young adults to learn and improve their skills in the snow and to enjoy being outside and making new friends.

From the beginning of December until the end of April, many ski schools offer ski camps for one to two weeks. There are programs for all ages (5 to 18) and levels. Anyone can join a winter camp, whether you’ve never seen snow before or you’re a ‘pro’ on the slopes. You can bring your own equipment or rent it at the camp.

Children can learn to ski or snowboard and other exciting indoor and outdoor activities are often offered, such as arts and crafts, swimming, and hiking. The highly-qualified instructors and supervisors do everything they can to provide a comfortable and safe environment for the kids to learn and have fun. Winter camps are often an international happening. The team of instructors and supervisors often come from all over the world, as well as the participants. This gives children the fantastic opportunity to learn about other cultures and languages. Winter camps in Switzerland often offer language courses in English, French or German.

The instructors offer exciting full days on the slopes. The mornings are filled with instruction and exercises and the afternoon is used to put this into practice and enjoy being outside in the snow, learning to ski or snowboard. And of course, there is plenty of time for lunch and breaks with hot chocolate. In the evening, everybody has dinner together.

The instructors are very experienced in teaching and entertaining children of different ages. They encourage children to participate actively, providing exciting challenges to encourage them to try new things, so they can learn to come out of their comfort zone. They also find ways to deal with new and sometimes difficult situations. The instructors support the children in working together, building up confidence and finding new friendships. On the first morning, most children are a bit shy and need some encouragement. By the time the winter camp is over, they have improved their skills, made lots of friends, and want to stay all winter!
